Sun, Limo, BBQ and Extractions!

Happy Easter Sunday!!! Today is Angela's Birthday so the Ryan household had a BBQ feast. Lately there's been a lot of BBQs due to fine weather but little Miss Sunshine has seemed to disappear again. Last week we had a BBQ/Limo/Drinks Night. It was a great night and the turn out was good although we did have a few drop outs. We started in Romeo's house, went to Copan for cocktails, Workman's for drinks, Madonnas for free shot and ended up in ClubM and Charlies for some after drinks grub. I colored Mary's hair the day before and she told me she loves the color which is good news to me! Romeo brought me to a football match Shamrock Rovers Vs UCD on Good Friday at the Shamrock Rovers Stadium.
I'm preparing myself for Orthodontics braces. I had to get 6 teeth extracted in total, 3 pre molars and 3 wisdom. So far I have 3 pre molars and 1 wisdom tooth out. In 2weeks time I will get another wisdom tooth out and the last one will have to be surgically extracted. The extractions are not as painful as I thought it would be. Hopefully I will have my braces in by next month. I can't wait!! This should be an exciting adventure.
So, after the graduation I've been doing some freelance work- up-styling hair for photo shoots, cutting and coloring hair. I will probably do this for another few months then start working in a salon full time. I really enjoy the freedom of choosing my own hours and spending more time with my loved ones! I had to pass up a job offer working on a cruise ship for 6 months abroad because I'm getting braces so I wouldn't be allowed to come home and get them tightened. But the braces would be worth it at the end!

Graduation Pics!!

On my graduation day Friday 8th April 2011.

Mary and DawnAhh

Mary- my partner in crime, my dancing partner, my clubbing buddy! We share so much things in common and I've asked her to come to my graduation!

Craig and DawnAhh

Craig- he's been really supportive and encouraging, helping me make decisions at crucial times and always being there for me. So much love for this guy and he definitely had to see me graduate as I wouldn't have made it without him.

David Marshall and DawnAhh

David- I've known this guy for 4½ years! He has taught me a lot in the theories of hair cutting, client relations and loads of stories of his past experiences with clients. David is some character for one character and I've really enjoyed some of the stories he has told me. I've enjoyed working for him and with him.

James and DawnAhh

James- my tutor. I've learned so much from this guy. He has taught me some of the best haircuts in the world and his art in hair is greatly appreciated. I'm really honored to be taught by such a great tutor and mentor. He definitely delivers!

Soap & Glory Facial Exfoliator and Bio-Oil Review

Soap & Glory Facial Exfoliator
I was at Boots today browsing around for a facial cleanser and I came across this bottle. After reading the description and what benefits it has for me- I decided I must have it and give it a try. My skin is normal but the bottle says For All Skin Types.
I like how it has the tiny pearl bead particles to help exfoliate the dead skin. The cream texture is really smooth and silky!!! I damp my skin with a face flannel then applied a pea size onto the tip of my finger and really worked in onto my skin in circular motions. I could feel the tiny pearls scrubbing the dead skin away. Afterwards I rinsed with luke warm water then pat dry with a towel. The blackheads around my nose have visibly reduced and my skin feels much smoother and softer. I don't normally like perfumed facial cleansers but this one smells fresh and subtle at €7.99- this little bad boy could do no wrong!!

Random Shiz

Ahhhh... Been ill for days and finally recovering. Whooo!! I think I had what everyone else had- sinus infection! Bleh! I really hate it when the nose gets blocked and you can't breathe.
But I think I passed my disease to someone.. Oopsy!!

Anyway- found out that my graduation day would be on Friday 8th April. Finally!!!

Yan and Alan are going to be leaving really soon now... Hm... Come to think of it, I'm really going to effin' miss them.. Guess I don't have any more guinea pigs to try out my cooking. Haha just kidding!

I guess at the moment I have a bittersweet feeling. Not really sure what I want to major in or do in life..
Oh well.. Let's just hope its a phase!

Tomorrow is Kate's last day in David Marshall. She's going to take one month off then move to Brazil with Serginho. Wish her all the best! xXx

Maureen and I decided we will do skydiving for Cancer Society Charity in honour of our dear friend Celine Murphy!! Watch this space!!

Blog

A quick update as I haven't updated in a while due to my computer dying but thanks to Alan- its fixed now. Yay! Turns out it was my stupid wireless keyboard causing my hard drive to fail and now I have a new hard drive and the old one is going to get destroyed. Can't believe I'm going to be losing all my files!

Tuesday 15th March- today is Yan and Alan's leaving do so we all went out to Harold's Cross Greyhound Racing. We had dinner, few bets and drinks. I won only once out fo the 11 races. Boo! But it was great fun!

Wednesday 16th March- Romeo and I went to the park and had a picnic before walking half way back to his house from Tallaght! Cooked steak for dinner.

Friday 18th March- Celine's funeral at Saggart. Went to Brown's Barn afterwards for some food and drinks with staff from David Marshalls then headed into town to The Secret Bar for more drinks!
Saturday 19th March- Went to the cinema in Dundrum with Romeo and watched Battle Los Angeles which wasn't too bad. Came home and made Lassaka to eat tomorrow for dinner. I'm feeling so sick with a dry cough and dizzy spells. >_<

Lassaka- Lasagne/ Moussaka

My first attempt on making Lassaka. I don't know does this even exist but its crossed between a lasagne and moussaka- my 2 favorite dishes that are similar so I thought I'd combine them! It was really easy to make and ingredients wise- just use whatever you like eating!
I actually made this the night before as it will taste  better the day after. Hope you will enjoy this!

Ingredients I used:
2 Medium Aubergines- sliced into 1cm
Mince beef
1 large onion- diced
Mushrooms- quartered
Lasagne sheets
Lasagne Tomato Sauce
Bechamel Sauce (white sauce)
White cheese/ Parmesan cheese

Rub salt on aubergines to take away the bitterness then place on a tray lined with tin foil and roast in oven for 20mins. Saute mushrooms and onions for few minutes then add mince and cook until mince is no longer pink. Add a pinch of salt, pepper and mixed herbs (optional). Add lasagne red sauce and simmer for few minutes.
Line and grease lasagne tray and start layering with aubergines first, mince, lasagne sheet, bechamel sauce. Repeat until you end with lasagne sheet. Pour bechamel sauce all over and sprinkle cheese on top. Sprinkle Paprika (optional) so it will brown nicely. Slice a couple of tomtatoes and place on top of cheese for decorations. Set Gas Mark 5 and bake for 45mins. Leave to aside to set for 10 minutes.
Can be served straight away or left til the next day.
If you are leaving it for the next day, cover it with tin foil and bake in oven for 20mins Gas Mark 5 then without the tin foil for another 5-10 minutes. Enjoy!

PS- this was delicious and really easy to make!!
